Þann 5.júlí 2020 komu börn Egils Gunnlaugssonar (29.09.1936-31.08.2008) með ýmis gögn frá föður sínum. Egill vann ýmis aðstoðardýralæknisstörf í Vorsfelde í V-Þýskalandi 1963 og 1964. Var settur héraðsdýralæknir í Gullbringu- og Kjósarsýsluumdæmi 1964. Héraðsdýralæknir í Vestur-Húnavatnssýslu frá 1. sept 1964 til 1. janúar 2007. Gegndi einnig störfum héraðsdýralæknis í Strandasýsluumdæmi til 1983 og síðar í viðlögum. Hefur einnig þjónað A-Húnavatnssýslu í afleysingum.
